The Herzog Family was a blast to photograph! Everyone gathered in Los Osos for a family reunion on the Central Coast. They came out here from as far away as Singapore! Spooner’s Cove was exceptionally beautiful, with a gorgeous blue sky and no fog on the horizon.
The Flores Family gathered from all over the country for a family reunion in Morro Bay. The fog cleared, allowing for some crisp, clear shots, and we got lucky with a visit from a couple of friendly horses and riders. Carlos, the youngest member of the family, took some big steps for us.
The Root Family gathered from all over to meet in Cambria for a family reunion, and we were lucky to be selected as their family’s photographers.
Three generations of the Root family loved being together and the kids loved, of course, playing in the whitewash. It was a great group to photograph as it was clear how much they enjoyed being together.
You can’t be the Cambria’s Coastline for a terrific place for a family portrait session, and Cambria’s Moonstone Beach is a stretch of dark sand beach that is strikingly beautiful. With the slight fog, the light was diffused. This gave us nice colors and a soft, even tone.
Creekside Farm in Paso Robles is a wonderful wedding venue. With a grass sloped ampitheater and covered stage for the ceremony, another large grass area for the reception, and a pond, it’s got just about everything one could ask for. And there’s so many places for photography, it was hard to choose where to shoot. we can’t wait to get back there.
It was wonderful to be in Santa Cruz for a photo session with the Cabrinha Family, who had gathered by the beach to celebrate family. It was a fun shot with a great family. They are a fun group, lots of energy and lots of laughter. The lighthouse, the beach, and the deep blue sea provided excellent backgrounds, and we were lucky to be up in Santa Cruz, a town we love.
Having a reunion or family gathering in Santa Cruz or somewhere else along the central coast of California? We’d love to be your photographers. Our family portait sessions are fun events that are memorable. We want you to have terrific images you’ll cherish as well as memories of a time everyone gathered together.

We had a great time at Montana de’Oro State Park with three generations of the Lovio family. The light was fantastic and we were able to get a variety of looks with different settings. It was also fun to get individual shots of the kids and time playing in the water at sunset. Time flies, it’s always important to have photographs to remember special moments when family is together.
It was a perfect day in Avila for a family portrait session. The fog stayed off the coast and the sun shined for the O’Gradys and their Weimaraner Mia, who, as you can see, was a good laugh. We even got an early moon for a few shots. They’re a fun family. We really enjoyed this photo session.
Avila Beach Family Photography
Coming to the Central Coast? Like some Terrific family photos? We, Sonrisa Photography specialize in portraits on the beach, in the sand, along the water, anywhere on the coast.
We were so happy to photograph the Holback Family at Avila Beach again. We photographed their wedding and it’s wonderful to see their growing family. Their two little girls are such sweet and happy kids.
Family Portraits on the Beach
The beach provides the perfect backdrop for family portraits.
The Thompsons were celebrating Mom’s 50th Birthday and we were lucky enough to be their photographers. They gathered from London, Chicago, and California to be together. They laugh a lot, and really enjoy each other. That always makes photography fun.
The Appleton’s came by limo from the Central Valley to renew their vows on the beach in Pismo. A great choice, Pismo Beach is as beach California as there is! We were able to get a nice mix of looks and it was great to work with such a nice family.
Central Coast Family Portrait Photography
Not only is Pismo Beach a great place for family portraits, but all along the Central Coast , including Avila Beach, Shell Beach, Morro Bay, Cayucos and Los Osos, there are wonderful places for families to get together for a family portait session. With the great weather most of the year and the tremendous scenic locations, the Central Coast is a photographer’s dream.
Get the Family Together
Time flies. We think they’ll always be another chance to be together, or to seal a moment in time with photography, but we never know. What we love about being family portrait photographers is being around really fantastic people, who are glad to be together, taking photos that will be keepsakes of time.

Locks of Love is a terrific organization that gives wigs to children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions. As a teacher I was aware of some students who would cut their hair and donate it for a wig. It’s a commitment. It may take two years to grow hair long enough. Not enough good is said about our younger generation. So many are giving their time, talents and hair to worthwhile organizations.
This narrated gallery was born from a before, during and after photo session with the O’tooles, who had, as a mother-daughter team let their hair grow so they could cut and donate it together.
About Locks of Love, from their site…
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

As great to be at Spooner’s Cove in Montana de’ Oro for Ben’s Senior Photography session, it was also good fun to be in studio for a few looks. Ben is a remarkable young man. With his wide vareity of interests (rock climbing) and talents (jazz music), it’s clear he’s going to be doing interesting things as he heads off from high school.
With all the bad weather we were having this week, it was lucky we were able to his session in. It was a gray day, but that’s great for photography as it provides a nice even light without the shadows. Ben was up for everything and he’s got a natural smile and and easy-going disposition that comes through in these photographs.
Here’s a few from Ben’s studio and on-location Senior Photography Session.
Central Coast Senior Photography Locations
With its stunning coastline, rolling hills, and numerous parks, the Central Coast is an amazing place for photography of all kinds. Senior Portrait photography is certainly no exception. We, Sonrisa Photography, specialize in senior photography on the beach and studio senior portraits. Whether it be a location on the coast or in hills, we can find the exact look you’ll love.
Studio Senior Portraiture
As much as we like working outdoors, we also love creating sets at the studio that are right for you. We have a variety of backdrops to choose from as well as unique ideas.
Our goal always is to make any portrait session relaxed and natural. We’ll create a mood where the you won’t feel stressed by the experience. Photography should be fun and easy so the real you shines through. We want to create images that will last a lifetime, ones that you’ll look at long down the road and remember what a good time your senior photography session was.
If you have any questions about photography or senior photography, we’d love to answer them, and, of course, we’d love to be your photographers.
We loved photographing Marina, Rich and Chance. They were great fun and easy to work with, and happy birthday to Marina — who choose a family portrait session for her birthday. Great choice! It’s important to preserve moments in time or they are gone. It was a wonderful evening in Baywood, one of our favorite places anywhere, but one we’ve never really used much for photography. This will change. There’s a lot of variety in the looks just in one place.
